Why I Created Sparkling Touch

Sparkling Touch was not created lightly.

It was built from experience, conviction and courage.

For over 15 years, i worked hands-on in the care sector across the Isle of Wight. I supported older people, individuals living with dementia and vulnerable adults who relied on us not just for physical help, but for safety, dignity and reassurance. I progressed from Care Assistant to Team Leader and stepped into management responsibilities, always leading from the front and always advocating for the people in our care.

Care, to me, has never been "just a job."

It is a responsibility. A privilege. A promise.

A Turning Point

During my career, i saw the growing pressure within services - rushed visits, stretched staff and care that often became focused purely on completing essential tasks.

I saw people receiving the basic support they needed - help with washing, dressing, and day-to-day tasks - but often missing something just as important: time, companionship and the opportunity to truly live and enjoy their lives.

Because life is not just about getting through the day.

It's about connection. Conversation. Fresh air. Laughter. Feeling like yourself.

And I couldn't ignore that.

Standing Up For What Matters

When I saw practices I believed compromised dignity, standards or fairness I spoke up. Not because it was easy - it wasn't - but because protecting vulnerable people matters more than protecting comfort or convenience.

Standing up for what is right came at a personal cost.

But staying silent cost far more.

Choosing A Different Path

That period of my life tested my resilience, my strength and my confidence.

It would have been easier to walk away from the sector entirely.

But care is part of who I am. Advocacy is part of my nature.

So instead, I chose to build something better.

The Heart Behind Sparkling Touch

Sparkling Touch was created from a simple but powerful belief:

Support should feel safe.

Care should feel dignified.

People should feel heard.

But more than that - people should be able to enjoy their lives, not just manage them.
